A Police Officers Thoughts
As a retired law enforcement officer, I would say that before I talked to any suspect of an alleged crime, I would gather evidence and proof of the alleged crime before acting. Everyone has rights and many times in my career, I found people who did not like someone try to accuse someone else of a crime and when my investigation proved the call was false and fraudulent, I would arrest and charge the false accuser of filing a false police report.
I have a friend who works as a Child Protective Investigator and they take all alleged crimes seriously as children need all the protection possible, so all accusations are immediately investigated, which puts undo stress and mental anguish on good parents as well as their children. When it is proven that the reports were false and malicious towards a good family, the evidence to prove the reports were manipulated and or malicious are gathered to arrest and charge the fraudulent reporter and that malicious reporter can also be sued by the family that had to undergo unnecessary investigation since the report was falsely reported.
