What is the most power assault rifle out there?
• Considered or reality?
• Considered is probably the AR15.
The reality?
None of them.
If you want power, you don’t pick an assault rifle, you pick a battle rifle or you pick a sniper rifle.
An assault rifle is a compromise weapon.
Its definition literally requires an intermediate cartridge to go along with being select-fire—automatic and semiautomatic—for which power becomes problematic.
The M14 is a battle rifle, able to punch more powerful rounds out farther to do more damage. The M16 is for close in work, mostly.
Derivatives of the same rifles in Afghanistan in the 2010’s, about 50 years later because the AR15-derivative lacked the long-range power needed for the fight in Afghanistan.
