Do You Carry A Spare Magazine?

If you have a ccw, do you carry more than one magazine with ammo?

I always carry a spare magazine. Not because I think I need bullets as I am 65-year-old man and no longer have the same fantasies that I had as a younger man taking on a gang or terrorists. Not even worried anymore of that PCP drugged up bad guy who keeps on coming no matter how many times I shoot him just so he can see how much is in my wallet. Big disappointment when he sees what is in my wallet (have to fart in my wallet to get a cent) lol…
The reason I carry a spare magazine is that years of competition and years of training have taught me a point of failure is a magazine. So if your magazine is the problem you need to eject it and put in a good one. There's not enough time to try to figure out what is wrong with it and attempt to fix it. Remember, time and distance...
There are certain jams where you need to remove the magazine and do so efficiently. I've had this happen occasionally at the range when I am just target shooting. I must remove the mag to clear the jam and it is much easier and quicker in a life and death situation to just drop the mag rather than hold it in your left hand and try to clear the jam with a hand holding a magazine which may be the problem in the first place.
I drop the mag to the ground leaving my left hand free to clear the jam and then quickly insert the new mag. I did this in competition, and it only took a few seconds.
As they say in the military, two is one and one is none. Same with my 1911. Dropped the magazine and used a fresh one. You learn a lot from being in training about what works in reality when under life and death stress vs shooting at paper or targets that will never shoot back.
