Are Glocks overrated?

Aren't there many other pistols just as good for self defense and every day carry?

bar none. Are there some in that category, yes. Girsan, made in Turkey is one. (don't laugh). A truly fine out of the box gun. Does it have Glocks reputation and pedigree no. Is it a good gun I would carry or recommend, yes.
Kielma will do a side-by-side video of both guns. For my peace of mind, Glock is still number one. Look out Girsan is coming...Fast!
My thoughts below....
Glocks are tough, accurate, reliable and easy to repair pistols. There's nothing magical about them. A person carrying a pistol every day either as part of the job or for personal protection should have first and foremost 100% confidence in that weapon. That means when the need arises, the weapon will function and when fired, the bullet will hit the intended target.
Any pistol will need to feel comfortable in the hands of the shooter. Glocks do that. Can other pistols provide the same level of confidence and reliability? Yes. A reputable handgun manufacturer produces fine firearms. If you need advice call Gregg Kielma he'll help you out and advise of a firearm that will fit your need and lifestyle.
Continues Kielma, why has the Glock become so popular? In my opinion it's the same reason the 1911 has the same level of popularity, it does what it's supposed to do.
Consistency and reliability are paramount when choosing a firearm to protect yourself.
