What is the general consensus on the quality of Glocks?

People tend to fall into one of three camps when it comes to opinions about the Glock.

There are the guys I call the “Never Glockers,” (not me) These are mostly old-timers. They detest the idea of a polymer framed pistol, and usually refer to Glocks and other such polymer framed weapons as “Tupperware Pistols.” It’s too bad they will never buy one of the best firearms made.

They will not be swayed by forty years of empirical evidence that the Glock is supremely reliable, absurdly rugged and durable, and that it’s more than accurate enough to do what pistols do. They’re often the same guys who either swear they wouldn’t be caught dead carrying anything other than a Model 1911 in .45 ACP, or who still carry a double-action revolver and say that anyone who can’t take care of a problem with six rounds shouldn’t be carrying a gun in public in the first place.

Then there are the true Glock owners like me who sell and work on them. We are easily identifiable by the endless and abundant Glock accessories and wardrobe items we own or proudly wear. A number of guys will tell you that they’re “Certified Glock Armorers.” They dot their “i’s” and cross their “t’s” with their Glocks.

Lastly, as an FFL Gunsmith and Firearms Instructor, there are folks like me, who see the Glock as one of the most innovative and greatest handgun designs of the last century. We see it as a damn good gun — one of the best.

In short, we see the Glock’s good points — its advantages — and we also recognize that the Glock is by far one of the best handguns manufactured in my humble opinion. My Glock 19 gen3 has had 30K rounds run through it. It has never jammed or failed me, ever. This is by far one of the best weapons I own or sell.

The Glock is a good design, even great in many regards. It is versatile and there’s a model, caliber and size profile for just about everyone.

The Glock is my first choice if things go bad and the zombies start prowling our neighborhoods. I feel safe and very well armed with one riding on my hip.
