I find it interesting that Bryer Sophia-Gardener posted a fabricated list from a gun ban group with totally inaccurate information and then disabled comments so no one can point out the flaws in that mess of garbage posted. This list is also flawed by the obvious when a law changes to strict gun laws, it doesn't really matter what the rate was before the change. It matters if it causes that rate to climb or fall as a result.

This is not from a gun ban source or pro-gun source. Its homicides by state. The most restrictive state for guns is #4 in homicides, California. Contrary to popular belief, there has never been a cause and effect study, peer-reviewed, that can determine the exact effect of gun laws on crime rates. There are simply too many factors that can affect those numbers and it's impossible to correct for them all with proper weight.

What can be done is to look at trends. Since the 80s and 90s homicide and all violent crime is down and dramatically down. Here are the FBI stats since 1997. Table 1 what has happened in the US since 1997? States have been relaxing gun laws and passing concealed carry bills. Does this prove more guns results in less crime? No, but it certainly leads one to believe it has helped. Here is the info on increases in carry rates and how much the states have changed since Florida started that ball rolling and crime plummeted with none of the negative consequences antigun groups said would follow. You'll notice I haven't used gun rights website info. I don't need to. The folks who have to use false and cherry-picked info to even make a case are the antis who will never include the complete studies by the Justice Dept., the CDC, the FBI or any other source without editing it and deception in stating the findings. The more you know about the facts, the more you'll favor one side. The side that gets results in lowering crime, especially violent crime. The next step in reducing mass shootings should be the elimination of gun-free zones, including in schools and national reciprocity.

Now that I've finished my argument, I will bring up someone the anti-gun folks hate and say is a biased source. John R Lott Jr of the Crime Prevention Research Center is the foremost expert on all of this information. He's an economist and professor at the University of Chicago and has devoted his life to studying crime, causes and solutions. I think everyone should be familiar with his work. Be informed, don't trust memes and emotions to form opinions. Facts matter and to borrow a quote, facts don't care about your feelings.
