Guns and Joe Biden

I don’t know the exact reason for Mr. Biden’s reaction, but such reactions are actually fairly common when gun control advocates are put on the spot. Take it from one who has been there, they don’t handle it well when you call them out.

I do think it hurt Mr. Biden’s chances of defeating President Trump in two ways: First, it made him look hostile to a union auto worker, and unions are one of the groups that cost Hillary Clinton the Michigan vote in 2016. Second, it made him appear incapable of responding articulately to a challenge. This raises doubt about his suitability for the presidency.

The outburst will certainly be used against Biden, if not by Bernie Sanders himself, then by his campaign. Should Biden be nominated, it will certainly be used against him by the Republicans. I don’t know that voters will be swayed to Donald Trump; they might just stay home or elect to not vote for a presidential candidate at all.

The electoral math is going to be the same for the November election as it was in 2016 when Trump won by collecting less than 80,000 votes across three states that gave him the electors for all three and sealed the win.

There are already doubts about Mr. Biden’s mental acuity and the traditionalists have already pinned their hopes on him because they are afraid of Bernie Sanders as a candidate.
