Being or becoming a good shooter is one thing, but having the ability to survive a life-threatening situation is another.

All the time I see these amazing shooters that are physically in poor to marginal condition.

To be a survivor, you need to focus on the whole package not just one part. I call this the 4 Tiers of Survival.

• Tier 1 - Physical Fitness (4 hours)
• Tier 2 - Dry Fire Training (6 hours)
• Tier 3 - Taser Training (4 hours)
• Tier 4 - Live Fire Training (8 hours)

Today we are talking about Tier 1 because I think this one is the most important.

I’ve seen good shooters fall apart after being physically stressed. I’ve seen martial arts buckle once pushed out of their physical comfort zone.

Everything we think we are good at should be tested after you are physically stressed. Then you will find out how good you really are and what you need to work on to increase your physical capacity.

Here are a few things you can do to make sure you are ready for any situation:

1. Hit a workout at least 3 times a week
2. Get out and move for at least 30 minutes to an hour EVERYDAY. This means walking, running, hiking, bike riding, or something physical that you enjoy.
3. Include elevating your heart rate into your dry fire and live fire training

If you decide to join us at one of our Tactical K Training and Firearms get together’s, we will push you to see how well you can shoot once your heart rate is elevated and you're breathing hard.

Whatever you do, just make sure you are taking care of yourself and not neglecting what you can handle physically. It could make the difference between life or death one day.

Next time we’ll talk about and set up classes on dry fire training, to follow with Taser/Stun gun training and finally tactical combat against an intruder or perpetrator.

Call Tactical K Training and Firearms to enroll today.
