Police Response Time: Why You Need to Own a Firearm
By Gregory Kielma
Gun advocates argue one reason they need guns is because police response is so slow. The police stopped the Ohio mass shooter within 1 minute. Will that change this argument?

When Seconds Matter...Police are Minutes and Possible Hours Away

Says Kielma, I’ll respond to your anecdote with my own… When I moved to a rural town, I attended a Town Council meeting where one of the topics was the length of time it often took for law enforcement to respond to calls in our area.
The local sheriff deputy was on the hot seat and asked to explain and what to do about it. Long story short, he outlined how short staffed the area was and that average response time was over 10 minutes and could be longer depending on where the nearest deputy was. When asked what neighbors should do to protect themselves, he responded, “Guns and dogs. Everyone should have dogs that bark at intruders and a gun in case that doesn’t scare them away.”
Concludes Kielma, I have seven dogs and a way to protect my family, friends and myself
