Speeding in Manatee County Florida with A Concealed Firearm

Today I was pulled over by the local Manatee County Sheriff Department for speeding, 56 in a 40 MPH zone. I had my loaded and concealed handguns on me at the time. I never leave home without them. Please keep in mind that my actions were completely voluntary for one simple reason.

He approached the passenger side and asked if I knew why he stopped me, and I said I did not. He said, speeding. He asked to see my driver’s license and asked when I had my last speeding ticket. I said 40 years ago. As I kept my hands firmly locked at 10 and 2 on the steering wheel.
I informed the sheriff; I have a concealed weapon on me and my carry permit is in my wallet. The pistol is on my right hip and one on my ankle. Please be careful, there is a rounds in each chamber in the chamber.

He asked then said, you keep you weapons holstered, and I’ll keep mine holstered. We laughed and I said, yes sir. I gave him my driver’s license as requested.

The officer went back to his truck and ran my license.

He came back 5 minutes later, give me back my license and said have a good day…

I thanked him for being calm, especially dealing with someone that had a handgun that was legally carried. The Sherrif thanked me for my cooperation.

Their is no moral of the story.

It's about everyone's safety.
It's about respect.
When you treat people with civility you get treated with civility.

Thank you to the men and women of the Manatee County Sheriff Department, for having professional law enforcement officers representing your department and protecting the wellbeing of our city." Thank you sheriff Rick Wells your training your men and women right.
