Do you Have a Plan?

I do. I am a conservative in a conservative city, Tampa Florida. I carry a gun every day, I never lock it in my car. My opinion a very bad decision. What happens if it’s stolen from your car or truck? I conceal carry into every establishment I visit. I carry all the time. My right granted by the Second Amendment. Period.

Do I feel safer. Absolutely. I feel safe for many reasons. I carry a support firearm on my ankle, body armor, pepper spray and a handheld stun gun. My students ask me, Mr. Kielma, what are you afraid of…ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.. These devices are just tools at my disposal. Tools I always train with. This is my choice and may not be the right “plan” for you. However, have a plan train and execute it. Training is paramount to a successful outcome.

The back story, I literally carried my gun into an ongoing robbery. Bad guy with firearm pointing at the cashier. Behind the counter the staff was cool as cucumbers, I took their hint, and just stood to the side. The guy got nervous and bailed and I got to watch him be tackled by two police officers a few moments later.

Could I have legally pulled my weapon? Sure, but would that have made the situation better or worse? That’s to be determined. Did I feel safer knowing I had the option if this went south? Yes, I did.

If the robber had started shooting at the clerks, or turned on my command to drop the weapon I would have shot him, until the threat ended without hesitation.

I speak about plans in all my classes. I have one. Practice it, and never second guess yourself or your plan.
